750kg decayed fish, 15000 packets ‘gutka’ seized

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized 750 kilogram decayed frozen fish and 15000 packets of ‘gutka’ during separate actions which were disposed off later. Director General (DG) PFA Capt (Retd) Muhammad Usman said that the Operations and Vigilance Wing of PFA conducted joint operations in Lohari Gate Fish market during which 750 kilogram frozen decayed fish was seized. The recovered fish was later disposed off at West Management Dumping site. The PFA also issued notices to 37 points to improve hygienic condition and quality of the food items being sold there. Meanwhile, the PFA also seized 15000 packets of ‘gutka’ during the operation. DG PFA Muhammad Usman said that ‘gutka’ causes mouth cancer and other diseases and no compromise will be made in action against the culprits involved in its sale and supply. ONLINE
