Health Minister conducts visit to Health Centers in Peshawar

The Health Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, undertook a visit to health centers located in Peshawar. The occasion saw the presence of Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, and local leadership accompanying him. They visited the Kohati Hospital, Peshawar General Hospital, and the maternity center located in Hashtnagri.
Upon arrival at Peshawar General Hospital, the administration provided the health minister with a briefing. It was highlighted that all specialties in the hospital provide treatment and diagnosis on a ten-rupee voucher. Additionally, it was mentioned that the laboratory, equipped with technical machinery, conducts between two to three thousand tests daily, while breast cancer screening facilities are also available at the hospital.
The health minister commended the health facility and cleanliness maintained by the staff and administration of the hospital. Accompanied by the Minister for Higher Education, the Health Minister inspected all the facilities available at the health centers.
Speaking to the media personnel on this occasion, Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah stated, “The Kohati Hospital will be opened for the public very soon. Our aim is to provide better healthcare facilities to the people. We are actively addressing the shortage of doctors, nurses, and other staff in all hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The provision of healthcare services in all hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being improved.”
He further added, “We will be available to the public 24/7. We are servants of the people and will continue to work for them.
The incumbent government has revitalized the health department, ensuring the correction of all systems. Just as the Imran Khan-led government delivered in the past, the health department will continue to deliver better services. There are many challenges, but by the grace of Allah, we will overcome them all in a better way.”
Minister Health directs immediate measures in response to rising temperatures
In response to the recent surge in temperatures in the province, the Health Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Qasim Ali Shah on Sunday issued directives to the health department to take immediate actions.
The provincial minister has instructed the health department to establish cool spaces in hospitals to prevent heatstroke, set up heatstroke treatment units in all hospitals of the province, and ensure the immediate establishment of heatstroke treatment units in hospitals above the Category D level. The Health Minister has taken steps to ensure the availability of ORS and other essential medicines in all hospitals for immediate access.
He has directed all District Health Officers (DHOs) to appoint focal persons for heatwave preparedness at the district level, in coordination with all Deputy Commissioners (DCs).
Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah has emphasised the importance of conducting awareness campaigns on heatstroke at the district level, urging the health department officials to take necessary measures.
Moreover, he has instructed to ensure the availability of chilled water for patients in hospital wards and waiting areas. Adequate provision of shaded waiting areas for attendants in hospitals has also been mandated.
The Health Minister has underscored the importance of ensuring ample availability of ice packs in heatstroke treatment units and ensuring the presence of medical staff.
In light of Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah’s directives, the Health Department has issued advisories for the prevention and treatment of potential heatwaves in the province. Citizens have been advised to consume homemade drinks and ORS to prevent heatstroke.
