The crackdown of Islamabad Police against suspects and criminal elements is underway and several outlaws were held during the last 24 hours along with recovery of narcotics and ammunition from them, a police spokesman said.
Following special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, he said grand operation was launched 24 hour before in different areas of the city including suburbs areas.
He said that operation was supervised by Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Waqar Ud Din Syed in Doray, Athal and Koral villages. The operation was participated by SP (Industrial Area) Hassam Bin Iqbal including more than 200 officers, police commandos and CIA Police team headed by DSP CIA Hakim Khan.
He said that 28 suspects including drug peddlers were held and shifted to Tarnol police station. Three 12 bore rifles, two pistols, eight kilogram hashish and three bottles of liquor were also recovered from them.
Meanwhile, he said that SP (City) Syed Aziz supervised the operation in village Athal and nabbed three drug pushers identified as Iftikhar, Khalid and Sadiq besides recovery of 2600 gram hashish, pistol and ammunition from them.
SP (Rural zone) Umar Khan supervised the operation in Rural Zone which was conducted in Haran Mera village and areas of Koral, Sharifabad, Kirpa and Ghauri Town. More than 80 houses and 200 suspects were searched during this operation and eight motorbikes without documents were impounded.
A total of 35 suspects including 15 drug peddlers were held during this operation. Police team also succeeded to nab five proclaimed offenders namely Pervez Akhtar, Arif, Hussain, Faisal Shehzad and Tahir Ashfaq. Out of these offenders, four were wanted to police in a murder case while one was required in an attempt to murder case.
During operation in Rural zone, notorious land grabber namely Sajid Mehmood was also arrested along with three Kalashnikovs, pistols and ammunition. Separate cases have been registered against the accused and further investigations are underway.
IGP Islamabad has said the purpose of this operation was to eliminate menace of drug from the Capital.
He further maintained that our sole responsibility is to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. IGP also appreciated the officers/officials who participated in this operation and made it successful.
