Department of Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is still far from the goals in the admission campaign and despite extension of the admission campaign date till May 15, 2024 the goals could not be achieved.
When contacted, no officials are ready to take responsibility for the failure of the admission campaign in government schools. The concerned officials including the District Education Officers are reluctant to discuss this issue and refused to talk on the campaign for enrolment of the kids in the schools.
On the instructions of the provincial government, the education department had directed to conduct a special campaign till April 30 and it was later on extended to May 15 but failed to achieve the target.
During the campaign, the target was set to bring more than 10, 13000 out-of-school children to schools.
It is being claimed that 6,84,670 children will be brought to schools during the admission campaign. Initially, the campaign was extended till May 15 in case the targets were not completed, however, heads of all concerned schools, including District Education Officers, have been instructed to make the campaign a success.
In case of failure in admission campaign, it was decided to take strict disciplinary action against the officers but in spite of the expansion, those goals could not be achieved, only paper data was used and a total of 112844 targets were set in Peshawar by the Education Department, but 71446 could enter.
Likewise, 32864 out of 52972 targets were achieved in the Education Minister’s native area and the target of admitting 31756 children in the native area of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was set while 22020 were achieved.
