PESHAWAR: Secretary Energy and Power Nisar Ahmad Khan Sunday called foreign investment as a milestone in the coming days for the development of the energy sector in the province. He expressed these views regarding the progress of the 470 MW Lower Spat Gah Power Project in Kohistan district with the cooperation of KHNP, a state-owned company working in the energy sector of South Korea, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government under the leadership of Wan Seok, Bae, the chief executive officer of the Korean engineering and construction company LSG Hydropower Ltd. While addressing the meeting organized by the investor delegation, Chief Executive Officer PEDO Engineer Riaz Ahmed Jan, Chief Engineer Khurram Durrani, Deputy Director Renewable Energy Engineer Safdar Hayat, Senior Planning Officer E&P Engineer Luqman Hakeem and Project Coordinator of the Korean company Khurram Khan were also present in the meeting. Meanwhile during the briefing, it was said that under the Public Private Partnership, 470 megawatts of electricity will be generated from the Spat Gah hydropower project with the mutual cooperation of the Korean company and the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the province will have an annual income of about 3 billion rupees. The project will be completed in 5 years, which is the largest in the history of the province. The meeting discussed the issues faced at the federal level with NEPRA including IGCEP Plan and NTDC.
Similarly, various options were also discussed to raise the obstacles in the issuance of generation license for the project and other issues with the federal government at the provincial level. On this occasion, Secretary Energy Nisar Ahmad Khan and CEO PEDO Engineer Riaz Ahmed Jan assured the Korean investor delegation that they would do their best to bring out the area by highlighting the problems facing the province with the federation at high level forums.
