Scores of people and members of the civil society staged a protest demonstration in front of the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) against the firing incidents that occurred in the protest held at Bannu district today.
Chanting slogans against the firing incident in the Bannu protest, protesters held up banners and placards decrying the incident and demanded investigation of the incident.
They said that with each passing day the security situation in the province is getting worse and the provincial government has observed pin drop silence.
The protest was led by the right activists Taimur Kaamal, Hayat Roghani and others stating that “the law and order situation is deteriorating in different areas of the province and people have been subjected to violence for holding peace rallies.”
They lamented firing on a peaceful rally is shameful and is proof that space for protest in the country is being narrowed and demanded action against the non-state actors involved in the disturbing peace of the region for their vested interests.
The representatives of the protest asked the provincial government and apex courts of the country to take special measures to investigate the Bannu protest incident and arrest those involved in the firing on peaceful protest rally.
