Blue economy need of hour to bring stability in national economy: Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has said blue economy is need of hour and the efforts are underway for revival of national economy.
“Pakistan will continue to work with International Maritime Organization (IMO), he said this while addressing ‘International Maritime Business and Finance Conference’ here Thursday.
He went on to say the interests of all are common regarding maritime affairs. Government is taking steps to harmonize fishing sector to modern times requirements.
Holding maritime conference was must., he said adding Pakistan blue economy can play vital role for development of the country at international level. Steps must be taken for development of blue economy.
Fishing sector has assumed vital significance under SIFC, he added. We are facilitating local and international investors,, he said adding we will encourage investors for investment in maritime industry.
Economic stability will come to Pakistan due to blue economy and job opportunities will be created, It is imperative to make ship making industry compatible with modern technology, he stressed.
Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco emphasized measures for protecting maritime environment and ensuring a sustainable working of maritime sector
He said international maritime organization is not just about protecting the maritime environment but also aims at evolving such safety protocols which are necessary to continue the international maritime trade in a sustainable manner.
