ISLAMABAD: Objections have been raised on a big consignment of rice exported to Europe this year.. The consignment of rice valuing Rs over 120 billion is feared to be returned to Pakistan. Sources said the rice which have been objected were exported from January to June this year. It is feared that export of Pakistani rice can be banned. In 45 varieties of exported basmati rice, dangerous pesticide was found. Minister Economic EU wrote several letters regarding objections to Pakistan authorities. Prime Minister constituted high level committee to probe into the matter. The committee sought 5 years record from department of plant protection Karachi that as to why plant protection Karachi department allowed to export rice without checking.
