In a first, KMU conducts MBBS second professional exam

Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, the only medical university in the province, has crossed another historic milestone by successfully conducting the MBBS Second Professional Examination for the first time through a modern intranet-based e-examination system.
This transformational initiative will prove to be a major step in modernizing medical education and strengthening diagnostic standards across the region.
According to details, a total of 1201 students from across the province participated in the said examination at four e-examination centers.
726 students from Khyber Medical College, Khyber Girls Medical College, Pak International Medical College, Jinnah Medical College and Muhammad College of Medicine participated at the KMU Center Peshawar.
98 students from Rehman Medical College, 148 from North West School of Medicine, 108 from Gomal Medical College, Dera Ismail Khan and 121 from Khyber Institute of Medical Sciences, Kohat participated in the said MBBS Second Professional Examination.
It is worth mentioning that KMU’s e-exam platform has numerous benefits for medical education including high efficiency. Students focus on one question at a time, ensuring better concentration, and it is a student-friendly system with instant delivery of results.
Secondly, the system ensures accessibility which allows students to take the exam at any designated center, reducing logistical challenges.
Thirdly, the system ensures environmental sustainability by reducing the use of paper, in other words, the initiative promotes eco-friendly practices.
Finally, this new system safeguards 100pc transparency as the digital format ensures fairness and reduces errors.
Meanwhile, in his address on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zia-ul-Haq expressed pride in the successful implementation of the e-exam system.
He emphasized that this important effort highlights the commitment to advance medical education as a benchmark for institutions not only within KP but also across Pakistan.
He said that this success is the result of teamwork and professional dedication of all the concerned institutions and colleges in which KMU institutions IHPE E&R, Examinations Department, IT, Registrar, Academics, Finance, Procurement, Audit, Admin, P&D and all Heads of Departments played a significant role.
Similarly, the university administration thanks the Deans, Principals, Boards of Governors, Chief Executive Officers and their teams of government and private medical colleges for their professional support in crossing this historic milestone.
Dr Ziaul Haq said that the successful conduct of the second professional MBBS examination marks an important step in KMU’s mission to innovate in medical education, which will create new standards of transparency, accessibility and environmental sustainability.
