Two Killed, One Injured in a Rivalry-Fueled Attack

In a tragic incident near 62MB on the Jauharabad-Scissor Road, two individuals were killed and one injured in a shooting attack. The incident is believed to be the result of an ongoing personal vendetta.
The victims, Liaquat Awan (71), a resident of Serhal, and Ghulam Rabani Awan (42), a resident of Ogali, were traveling in a car with their companion, Mohsin Shehzad, a resident of Piplan, District Mianwali. They were en route to the Jauharabad court when they came under fire from unidentified assailants near the 62MB area. The attackers, lying in wait, opened fire indiscriminately at the vehicle, resulting in the immediate deaths of Liaquat and Ghulam Rabani.
Mohsin Shehzad, the third occupant of the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in a critical condition. Rescue 1122 personnel promptly responded to the scene and transported the casualties and the injured to the hospital.
According to police sources, the motive behind the attack is believed to be related to an old feud. Liaquat Awan and his associates were allegedly involved in the killing of Malik Shahid Riaz Awan from Shakar Kot in the past. This grudge may have led to the fatal shooting.
Police, including the District Police Officer (DPO) and Circle Officers, along with the SHO of the Saddar police station, arrived at the crime scene shortly after the incident. They are currently investigating the matter, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Sources indicate that Mohsin Shehzad, who was injured in the attack, had been serving as Liaquat Awan’s bodyguard, and Ghulam Rabani was the owner of the vehicle involved in the attack.
Upon receiving the report of the incident, DPO Khushab, Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, along with the Circle Officer, SHO Saddar Imran Sadiq, and a heavy contingent of police reached the scene.
The police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, and efforts are underway to identify the assailants responsible for the killings.
