ISLAMABAD: Federal government has become active for changes on foreign front and key appointments and transfers are likely in foreign ministry within next few days. Ambassadors have not been appointed by Pakistan in several capitals and steps have been started in this regard. According to diplomatic sources Pakistani ambassador Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aamir has reached Doha. Dr Muhammad Ejaz who has returned from Qatar is in preparations for moving to Belarus as ambassador. Additional secretary Muhammad Salim will assume responsibility as high commissioner Canada on December 29. No high commissioner is appointed in Canada after retirement of Zahir Aslam Janjua. According to sources Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra will assume charge of ambassador in next few days. Asim Iftikhar who was ambassador of Pakistan in France has reached New York. Nabil Munir who is appointed in South Korea is also returning to Pakistan on completion of his tenure. As per sources Pakistan government has not appointed any ambassador in Seoul so far. Government could not designate any ambassador in place of ambassador Suljuk Mustansar Tarar in Netherland. Suljuk Mustansar Tarar was designated as new ambassador for Indonesia. Government will have to appoint new ambassador for Indonesia on non availability of Suljuk Tarar. According to diplomatic sources new high commissioner has not been designated for South Africa so far. Senior diplomat takes no interest in moving to South Africa after Kuwait. Sources said there is proposal for sending Sami ur Rehman from Morocco to Poland, The ambassadors who are appointed on political basis are designated soon. Diplomatic sources said designation of career ambassadors is facing delay persistently. Government has to designate ambassador for Japan soon while new ambassador could not be appointed for European Union.
