PESHAWAR: The Peshawar University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has written a letter to the Registrar of the university, highlighting concerns over alleged irregularities in the allotment of university residences. In a letter to the Registrar of the University of Peshawar (UoP) administration, the association has demanded the immediate cancellation of what they deem to be illegal allotments, calling for these residences to be vacated and reallocated to deserving faculty members and employees based on a merit list. According to the letter, the irregularities in the allotment process have led to growing unrest among teachers and staff. The association claimed that residences have been allocated without regard to seniority or merit, resulting in unfair distribution. Furthermore, the PUTA has accused some employees of occupying university houses or transferring to other residences without proper permission, exacerbating the issue. The association in its letter has also claimed that police personnel, who are stationed outside the campus, have occupied university residences. The association has described this practice as both improper and unjustified. The PUTA has called for immediate action from the university administration, demanding that all illegal allotments be canceled and that the affected residences be reallocated fairly, in accordance with established merit-based criteria.
