ISLAMABAD: Ejaz ul Haq, a member of the government negotiation team Friday appreciated the peaceful atmosphere during the January 16 talks between the government and PTI, urging those unwilling to engage in talks to show flexibility as the government seeks to resolve issues through all legal means. Talking to a private news channel, Ejaz ul Haq assurance of the government’s commitment to lawful means for issue resolution is a significant step towards promoting a peaceful and stable environment. Ejaz ul Haq emphasized the importance of avoiding a deadlock in talks, instead striving for positive outcomes through patience and flexibility from both parties. Ejaz ul Haq stated that the demands presented by PTI could have been presented in a better manner. Responding a query, he said that PTI wants to maintain its narrative while also showing flexibility, which is causing confusion.
Responding to another question, Ejaz ul Haq suggested that PTI can submit an application to the Supreme Court regarding the Judicial Commission, as it is unlikely that the government and opposition can come to an agreement on the matter.
He also announced that a new sub-committee, comprising the Law Minister other allied parties and committee members, will be formed to scrutinize the legal implications of PTI’s demands.
To another query, he said during negotiations, PTI alleged that some of its supporters were martyred or went missing during the protests, but the party failed to provide a list of the individuals in question. He also optimistic that the negotiations would yield a positive outcome, ultimately strengthening the democratic process.
