Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on science and technology Shafqat Ayaz has lauded the Directorate of Science and Technology and Academia for formulating a comprehensive science and technology strategy for the province. He emphasized that the new policy aligns with the National Science Policy 2022 and will play a crucial role in addressing the province’s challenges.
While chairing a consultative meeting, Shafqat Ayaz highlighted the strategy’s significance in enhancing economic growth, improving quality of life, and leveraging innovation.
The policy includes the establishment of a high-powered STI Council, chaired by the Chief Minister, to oversee science, technology, and innovation (STI) initiatives.
Shafqat stated that the Directorate General of Science and Technology (DOST) will also be empowered to formulate policies and launch new projects.
He reiterated that promoting science and technology is a key vision of Imran Khan and the KP government, aiming to transform the province into a hub of technological advancement and innovation.
The strategy will open new avenues for economic growth, job creation, and socio-economic development.
Shafqat Ayaz urged academia and scholars to focus on modern research, particularly in the health sector, to improve the economic well-being of the common people and enhance the quality of life across KP.
