Pareveen Shakir Literature Festival & Award distribution ceremony held today

Islamabad to witness lively literary debates, Mushaira and seminar on Saturday

Parveen Shakir Trust (PST) is organizing a grand literature festival and award distribution ceremony today on at the Islamabad Hotel Melody Chowk 10 a.m.
The literature festival will be addressed by the literary luminaries of Pakistan including Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik, Mustansar Hussain Tarar, Dr Najiba Arif, Hameed Shahid, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Mehboob Zafar, Maula Bux Chandyo, Mian Raza Rabbani and others.
A lively debate on ‘Kitabain Udaas Hain,’ a discussion on a book and a poetry recital will also be held on the occasion. Poets like Wafa Chishti, Anwar Fitrat, Rafiq Sandhelvi, Maafia Sheikh, Kashif Rehman, Ghazanfar Hashmi, Sabeen Younas, Khawar Ahmed, Nasir Ali Syed, Khurshid Rabbani, Hassan Abbas Raza, Saeed Shariq, Farrukh Yar, Arshad Meraj, Naheed Qamar will present their kalam.
The highlight of the event however will be distribution of Aks-e-Khushbu and other literary awards for the year 2024.
Pakistan’s acclaimed storywriter and folklorist Mazharul Islam will receive Nayyer Adbi Award along with a cash prize of PKR 200,000/- for his time travel novel “Sarus Cranes Have Flown out of Their Dreams.”
Similarly, ‘Husn-e-Fun’ award will be bestowed on the veteran writer and scholar Mustansar Hussain Tarar along with PKR 100,000/- cash prize.
Amjad Islam Amjad award will be presented to Hameeda Shaheen for her poetry collection ‘Zinda Hoon’ along with an amount of PKR 100,000.
Likewise, Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik will receive Mian Atta Rabbani Award along with a cash prize of PKR 100,000/- for his book ‘Ashyana-e-Ghurbat say Ashiaan dar Ashiaan.’
Apart from the above-mentioned awards, there are other awards too such as Sultan Mahmood Qazi Award (with PKR 50,000/-) Begum Sarfaraz Iqbal Adbi Award (PKR50,000/-), Muhammad Younas Sethi Wafa Adbi Award (PKR 50,000/-), Sheikh Abdul Qadir Adbi Award (PKR 50,000), and PST Aks-e-Khushbu Awards (PKR 50,000) each will be presented to emerging writers and poets.
A book fair will also be held on the occasion in which renowned publishing houses will hold their stalls offering various titles on discounts.
