An important meeting held here on Tuesday with Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah in the chair, reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
According to an official handout, the meeting focused on government initiatives aimed at promoting economic development and attracting investment in the province. Terming SIFC a revolutionary platform, the Chief Secretary emphasized its role in facilitating the investment process, adopting a coordinated strategy, and encouraging both domestic and foreign investment. He directed all relevant departments to promptly address existing challenges and ensure the timely completion of projects, particularly those under public-private partnerships, to foster sustainable development.
During the meeting, various departments briefed participants on their initiatives within the SIFC framework. It was highlighted that a special unit has been established in the Planning and Development Department to monitor and ensure the effective implementation of SIFC projects.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the agreement regarding the Cloud First Policy and Digital Economy Enhancement Project, both of which were recognized as key drivers of digital transformation in the province. Additionally, discussions were held on the establishment of Special Technology Zones in Peshawar, Swat, and Mardan, with directives issued to expedite the removal of obstacles hindering their development.
Key ongoing projects in the sectors of environment, tourism, infrastructure, energy, industry, and health were also reviewed.
The Chief Secretary underscored that SIFC would be a game-changer in the economic development of the province. He urged all departments to align their strategies with the council’s objectives and prioritize mutual cooperation, innovation, and effective governance to enhance investment opportunities.
