Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked in its detailed written decision related to cipher case that prosecution has failed in proving case against PTI founder Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The court issued written order regarding acquittal of Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi. IHC had nullified sentence of Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi on June 03, 2024. It has been said in court’s decision record shows trial has been conducted in unnecessary haste. On seeking adjournment by the lawyers of accused persons, state counsel was appointed who was given one day time for preparation.
The decision further said the cross questioning by state counsel indicates his lack of experience and lack of time. This case is of nature of remanding back it to trial court. Court is hearing this case on merit.

It is pertinent to mention here cipher case pertains to diplomatic documents which had disappeared from the custody of Imran Khan.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi was nominated in FIR lodged by FIA.
FIA had alleged that the copy of cipher sent to Prime Minister office was kept by the then Prime minister Imran Khan deliberately with bad intent and he never returned it to ministry of foreign affairs.
FIR said the steps by the accused afforded benefit to foreign powers directly or indirectly and this caused harm to state.
PTI alleges that in cipher US had given threat to remove Imran Khan from power.
