The Anti-Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested a Tehsildar and a Patwari in connection with a major land corruption case in Swabi district. The officials were allegedly involved in illegally converting government commercial land into non-commercial property through fraudulent transfers, causing a loss of Rs. 6 million to the national treasury in evaded taxes.
The arrests were made following public complaints received during a monthly open court held under the supervision of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Advisor on Anti-Corruption, Mosaddiq Abbasi.
An investigation revealed that the accused manipulated land records and forged transfers to alter the classification of commercial land, enabling significant tax evasion. The inquiry also established that the tampering of official documents led to substantial financial damage to the provincial revenue system.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 409, 419, 420, and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Those arrested include Tehsildar Razar Swabi, Ismatullah Wazir, and Patwari Arshad. Additional accused named in the FIR are Gurdwara Circle Sher Sil, Naqash Ali, and Imtiaz Ali, who are also under investigation.
