In a bid to reinforce the criminal justice system and improve the prosecution of narcotics-related cases, District Public Prosecutor (DPP) Swat, Saeed Naeem Khan, chaired a high-level training session with Station House Officers (SHOs) and Moharrars (MHCs) from across the district.
The session focused on enhancing the legal and investigative skills of police officers in line with the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA). It aimed to ensure that narcotics cases are pursued with greater efficiency, legal accuracy, and adherence to procedural standards.
DPP Saeed Naeem Khan delivered a detailed and practical briefing on crucial aspects of case handling, including the seizure and safe custody of narcotics, maintenance of chain of custody, compliance with Register 19, and the proper use of video and photographic evidence. He also highlighted the increasing importance of digital forensic analysis, which plays a vital role in ensuring that evidence is admissible and stands up in court.
Combating narcotics is not just about arrests, it’s about building airtight cases based on law, professionalism, and precision,” said DPP Saeed Naeem. “Every step, from seizure to prosecution, must meet legal standards to deliver real justice, he maintained.
The session also stressed the need for alignment with recent judgments of superior courts, encouraging close coordination between police and prosecution teams to maintain the integrity of investigations and trials.
The session was also attended by Senior Public Prosecutor Mazhar Ali Shah, Deputy Public Prosecutor Swat, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Lower Swat Ghulam Sadiq Khan, who praised the initiative and recognized the prosecution department’s efforts to enhance field-level competence.
In concluding ceremony, DPP Saeed Naeem thanked all participants for their dedication and urged continued collaboration between police and prosecutors to ensure a more transparent and effective justice system in District Swat.
