LHC reserves judgment on the petition seeking court’s orders to stop Senate polls

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved judgment on the petition seeking court’s order for stopping Senate polls following the completion of arguments. Petition filed by PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry came up for hearing before Justice Ahmad Nadim Arshid of LHC. Barrister Taimore Malik and Rana Mudassar Omar counsels for Ejaz Chaudhry took the plea that Election Commission (EC) denotified Ejaz Chaudhry on July 28. However no formal application was sent to chairman Senate for denotification. The counsels told the court Peshawar High Court (PHC) has already ordered to stop the Senate election on the petition of Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub. The petitioner took the plea EC has stopped by polls all over the country due to flood situation. Continuing Senate polls in this situation is improper. The court has been requested to issue orders to stop Senate election of Ejaz Chaudhry seat. The court reserved judgment after hearing the arguments of the respondents. ONLINE
