Secretary Information and Public Relations Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Bakhtiar Khan, has said that the provincial government is utilizing all available resources for the welfare of journalists and the resolution of their problems. He stated that special measures are being taken on a priority basis to address the challenges faced by working journalists and newspapers, while transparency in the Information Department has been further strengthened.
Dr. Bakhtiar expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation led by President Malakand Division Union of Journalists, Shahzad Alam. DG Information Muhammad Imran Khan, PTI leader Bilal-ur-Rehman, Dr. Masood Khan Afridi, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, Shahzad Alam presented a detailed briefing on the issues confronting journalists of Malakand Division, including Swat. The delegation highlighted concerns related to distribution of advertisements, timely payments, security of journalists, training, and welfare schemes.
Talking to the delegation, Dr. Bakhtiar Khan assured that advertisements are being distributed to newspapers purely on merit and payments are being cleared on time. He added that the Information Department is being upgraded on modern lines to ensure facilitation and security for journalists.
Journalism is a key pillar of democracy, and the provincial government will continue to extend full support for the growth and stability of this sector, he said.
