ISLAMABAD
Permanent ban has been imposed on providing connection on domestic gas and directives have been issued to Sui Southern and Sui Northern to cancel 30 lac applications. Cabinet division has sent to Sui Southern and Sui Northern frame work approved by federal government.
According to the framework, Sui Southern and Sui Northern have been instructed to cancel the 3 million applications already received. The framework for gas connections based on imported gas is based on 9 conditions. Sui Southern and Sui Northern will be able to provide gas connections to 50% of consumers in a year with an urgent fee.
Consumers who pay the urgent fee will be provided with a new connection on imported gas within 3 months.
Domestic gas connection users who remain disconnected for one year will be provided with an imported gas connection. The tariff for imported gas connections will be 70% higher compared to domestic gas.
