ISLAMABAD: The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Fred Seneviratne, called on Bilal Chaudry, Director General South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 13 November 2025, to discuss bilateral ties, regional developments, and upcoming economic engagements between the two countries. DG Chaudry welcomed the newly appointed High Commissioner and congratulated him on assuming his duties in Islamabad. He highlighted the deep-rooted and cordial relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, recalling decades of cooperation in defence, trade, education, and people-to-people exchanges. He also briefed the Sri Lankan envoy on the security situation in Islamabad following the tragic bomb blast that occurred on 11 November 2025, assuring him of Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all diplomatic missions. DG Chaudry expressed appreciation for Sri Lanka’s decision—endorsed by both its government and cricket authorities—to continue with the ODI and T20I series in Rawalpindi despite recent security concerns. He termed it a “gesture of trust and solidarity,” reflecting the strength of bilateral relations. DNA
