Karachi: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Court in Karachi resumed proceedings in the high-profile case concerning the alleged illegal allotment of approximately 17,500 acres of land near Bahria Town, Super Highway, Karachi. Former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has filed a petition seeking acquittal in the case. Meanwhile, the process to declare ten accused, including Malik Riaz, Ahmed Ali Riaz, and Faisal Sarwar Qureshi, as proclaimed offenders could not be completed, as the court is awaiting responses from various institutions to letters issued by NAB. Prosecutor Manzoor Shah stated that once the replies are received, the accused will be formally declared proclaimed offenders. The court also issued fresh non-bailable arrest warrants against the absconding accused. NAB prosecutor Manzoor Shah urged the court to reject Syed Qaim Ali Shah’s acquittal plea and to cancel the interim bail of other accused. Lawyer Manzoor Shah further noted that accused Tufail Khas Khil, Mir Muhammad Gharwa, and others have filed objections regarding their inclusion on the Exit Control List (ECL). The case revolves around allegations that the accused were involved in the unlawful allotment of 17,500 acres of land in proximity to Bahria Town, Karachi, raising serious concerns about misuse of authority and illegal land transactions.
