PESHAWAR
On the special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering, Fazal Shakoor Khan, Secretary Dawood Khan, and Director Laboratory, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Central Laboratory Peshawar has initiated a comprehensive water quality testing and public awareness campaign across various areas of district Peshawar. The campaign is being carried out under the supervision of the Senior Research Officer.
As part of this initiative, the laboratory team collected water samples from households, commercial locations, tube wells, water supply schemes, and filtration plants, in response to public requests. These samples are being tested in the modern PHE laboratory in accordance with international standards.
The purpose of the water analysis is to improve the quality of drinking water supplied to citizens, identify sources of contamination and alert the public to any potential public health risks in a timely manner.
During the campaign, the team not only collected water samples but also provided awareness to the public on the use of safe drinking water, cleanliness of water storage sources, timely cleaning of domestic water tanks, and other health-related precautions.
On the special instructions of the Provincial Minister, Secretary, and Director Labs, the scope of water quality testing is being further expanded across the province, as the provision of safe and clean drinking water is a top priority of the provincial government.
Laboratory teams continue active field operations to ensure timely monitoring. The Public Health Engineering Department has emphasized that public cooperation is essential for improving water quality and ensuring a healthier environment for all.
