Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has reserved its decision on the petition seeking to suspend Judge Nasser Javed Rana, who delivered the verdict in the £190 million case. The ruling is expected later this week. During the hearing, Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar noted that issues concerning session court judges are usually referred to the High Court Inspection Team. He remarked, “Why not send the matter to the inspection team?” The Chief Justice also observed that the notification being challenged appears to have no illegal aspect. The Chief Justice highlighted that despite a 2004 observation by the Supreme Court against the judge, the Administrative Committee of Lahore High Court reinstated him, adding, “If you still have objections, knock on the Lahore High Court’s door.” The petitioner’s lawyer, Riaz Hanif Rahi, argued that the petition filed on 7 November should have been decided by now. He raised concerns over the judge’s use of luxury vehicles, requesting the court examine the matter. During arguments, Rahi also referenced the Indian film “One Day CM”, suggesting that the court fully exercise its judicial powers. Chief Justice Dogar responded with a smile, noting he had seen the film, and jokingly added, “The issue is, you do not listen when we speak.” After hearing detailed arguments from all parties, the Islamabad High Court reserved its verdict on the suspension request of Judge Nasser Javed Rana.
