Increasing Unemployment Among Educated Youth

Through my column I wish to highlight the serious issue of rising unemployment among educated youth in Pakistan. Every year, thousands of graduates enter the job market, yet limited employment opportunities leave many frustrated and hopeless.
Despite holding degrees, young people struggle due to lack of skill-based education, mismatch between academic curricula and market demands, and slow economic growth. As a result, many talented individuals either remain jobless or seek opportunities abroad, causing brain drain.
The government must focus on vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and industry–academia collaboration. Creating a business-friendly environment can also help generate employment opportunities.
If this issue remains unaddressed, it may lead to social unrest and economic instability.
