Gang posing as govt officials busted in Peshawar, looted cash recovered

PESHAWAR: Police on Monday claimed to have apprehended a gang that had been robbing Afghan citizens, including women, at gunpoint under the pretext of being officials from a government department. According to police, the arrest was made during an important operation led by SP Cantt Division Abdullah Ihsan, along with SDPO Hayatabad Circle Muhammad Junaid Kharal and SHO Hayatabad Police Station Kamran Marwat. Police said that three suspects have been arrested and recovered over Rs1.9 million in local and foreign currency. The gang had been targeting Afghan citizens who arrived in Peshawar for medical treatment, specifically in the Hayatabad area, said police. Crime Reporter
