The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has imposed fines amounting to over Rs 554 million on consumers involved in electricity theft across six operational circles, as part of its intensified anti-power theft campaign. According to IESCO’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Ch. Khalid Mahmood, police arrested 3,185 offenders during the drive. He said more than 230,000 running and dead defaulters were targeted, leading to recoveries exceeding Rs 7 billion. The crackdown, he added, is being carried out in line with the federal government and Ministry of Energy’s zero-tolerance policy against electricity theft, with measures tightened around defaulters and pilferers. Ch. Khalid Mahmood said that 100 percent implementation of the government’s vision against electricity theft was being ensured across the company’s jurisdiction.
