Dr. Hazir Rahman nominated for UNESCO Int’l Award

The Government of Pakistan has nominated Dr. Hazir Rahman, Chairman, Department of Microbiology and Medical Laboratory Technology, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, for the prestigious UNESCO Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Microbiology, one of the highest international recognitions in the field of microbiological sciences.
Dr. Hazir Rahman is graduate of a Georg-August University Gottingen, Germany, and published his research in reputed journals.
He served previously in Shaukat Khanam Cancer Hospital, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Kohat University, and the University of Medicine Gottingen, Germany.
He is the winner of the HEC Best University Teacher Award. The nomination acknowledges his significant contributions to microbiology, particularly in research, education, public health–related scientific advancements, and his services in the Corona pandemic.
The UNESCO Carlos J. Finlay Prize is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to microbiology and its applications for the benefit of humanity.
The nomination by the Government of Pakistan reflects national recognition of his scientific excellence and his role in advancing microbiological research at both national and international levels.
