The National Highways & Motorway Police is regularly organizing monthly online open courts to ensure timely resolution of issues faced by the public and its employees, while strengthening direct communication. In this regard, Inspector General NHMP, Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, participated in a live online open court session broadcast through FM 95 Radio and NHMP’s official Facebook page.
During the session, the IG listened to complaints, issues, and suggestions from citizens and employees through live calls, and issued on-the-spot directions to concerned officers for their prompt resolution.
Appreciating the constructive input from the public, he emphasized that public feedback plays a vital role in institutional improvement.
Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry reiterated that NHMP, through its effective strategies and professional excellence, continues to undertake practical measures to ensure safe, comfortable travel, public convenience, and the rule of law on national highways and motorways.
He highlighted that in light of the directives of the Federal Government, NHMP has also reduced speed limits on national highways and motorways as part of austerity measures aimed at fuel conservation and promotion of road safety.
Awareness campaigns are being conducted through toll plazas, Mobile Education Units and social media to ensure compliance with the revised speed limits. Furthermore, a special enforcement campaign against Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) was launched during Eid, targeting violations such as overloading and overcharging.
As a result of these efforts, more than 7.5 million rupees collected as excess fares has been refunded to passengers, reflecting NHMP’s commitment to public service and transparency.
The IG further highlighted that public complaints regarding severe traffic congestion on GT Road, particularly from 26 Number Chungi to Hasan Abdal have been taken seriously. In this regard, he personally visited the affected stretch along with the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) to assess the ground situation and explore both immediate and long-term solutions.
Continuous monitoring is being ensured to improve traffic flow and prevent such issues in the future. Concluding the session, Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry termed the online open court an effective platform for direct public engagement, prompt grievance redressal, transparency, and improved access to senior leadership.
