The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday launched the E-Transfer Policy Plus aimed at ensuring merit-based and transparent transfers of education department staff.
The policy was formally inaugurated by Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan at a ceremony attended by senior officials of the department.
Officials said the policy would cover transfers of teaching staff, as well as tenure-based postings for education management and ministerial cadres. They added that a defined scoring system had been introduced, taking into account factors such as duration of service, student-teacher ratio, domicile, higher qualifications, and school performance indicators.
Special provisions have also been included for persons with disabilities and widows.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister termed the initiative a “historic step” towards ensuring merit and transparency, adding that it would eliminate the culture of recommendations in transfers.
He said teachers would now be able to apply for transfers through a mobile application from their homes, which would help improve governance and academic performance in schools.
The minister added that further improvements would be made to the system to strengthen the education sector in the province.
