The provincial department for education on Friday claimed to have successfully traced individuals allegedly involved in leaking Class 9 and 10 examination papers, uncovering a network of WhatsApp groups charging students for early access to question papers.
According to sources, a letter sent by the education department to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) details the alleged role of WhatsApp group administrators in facilitating the leaks.
The report highlights a new method of profiteering, whereby group admins charged hefty fees from members in exchange for access to examination papers before the scheduled time.
Investigations have identified several groups linked to the leakage of papers conducted under the Malakand Board, sources said.
Authorities say these groups operated in a coordinated manner, sharing papers only after receiving payments from students.
Sources added that key individuals behind these groups have been traced, and their details have been shared with law enforcement agencies.
The Malakand Board, in collaboration with the FIA and police, has initiated action against the identified groups.
Officials said further investigations were underway to dismantle the network and prevent recurrence of such incidents, which undermine the credibility of the examination system.
