DG KHAN: Police on Saturday arrested 34 members of 12 gangs and recovered stolen goods worth Rs15.2 million, which were returned to rightful owners. During four police encounters, one dacoit was killed while four others were arrested in injured condition. According to the District Police Officer (DPO) targeted operations against criminals led to a decline in crime and remarkable recovery of looted property. During an encounter, a key gang member, Sajid alias Saji of the Pallu gang, was killed by his accomplices’ firing.
Separate encounters in the limits of Drahma, Choti and Dariakhshan Jamal Khan police stations resulted in the arrest of four injured suspects identified as Bilal, Ramzan, Yousaf, and Abrar alias Baro.
All were reportedly involved in repeated robbery incidents.
Police also arrested 318 proclaimed offenders and 41 court absconders during the month.
In operations against drugs and illegal weapons, police registered 55 cases, recovering 49 kg hashish,427 liters of liquor and 14 bottles of wine, while arresting 55 drug dealers.
In another crackdown,70 cases were registered for illegal weapons, leading to the recovery of nine Kalashnikovs,55 pistols and revolvers, six guns, one rifle and 163 bullets.
