IG NHMP chairs monthly conference; reviews performance of all zones

The Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, chaired the monthly regional conference of the Motorway Police. The conference was attended by Additional Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, and Superintendents of Police from various zones across the country through video link. During the meeting, a detailed review of the overall performance of all zones nationwide was conducted. Important operational matters, traffic management, and road safety measures were also discussed. Addressing the participants, the IG NHMP directed that, in light of the prevailing global and regional situation, strict implementation of austerity measures and efficient fuel utilization policies must be ensured.
During the conference, Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry emphasized the need to further enhance the professional skills and capacity of Motorway Police officers to improve performance. The IG stated that serving citizens and ensuring the protection of their lives and property on national highways remains the foremost priority of the Motorway Police. He also directed the effective enforcement of revised speed limits on national highways as notified by the government.
He further stressed that special awareness campaigns on road safety should continue, particularly highlighting the dangers of drowsy driving and promoting safe driving practices. He also directed that effective measures and awareness campaigns be undertaken to prevent the burning of crop residues (stubble burning) along national highways, ensuring environmental protection.
The IG NHMP further instructed that Axle Load Control Regime (ALCR) be implemented fully and effectively. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the National Highways and Motorway Police to continue performing its duties with greater vigilance, professionalism, and responsibility for the promotion of road safety and protection of citizens.
