Participants urge CM, KP to address issues of Koki Khel, Jhanda Khel tribes

Local political and social elements in Jamrud asked the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to resolve long-lasting issues being faced by the Koki Khel and Jhanda Khel.
The demand was made in a roundtable conference, organized under the auspices of the tehsil chapter of Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam, Fazal Rehman (JUI-F) held in Jamrud on Sunday.
A wide range of participants, including representatives of political and social organizations, youth groups, the Jamrud Traders Association, local elders, journalists, and individuals from various walks of life ensured their presence in the moot.
During the session, participants actively debated a number of longstanding issues faced by the area.
At the conclusion of the conference, a 30-point joint declaration was issued.
The declaration called for the resolution of the Regi Lalma land dispute, provision of rights to Tirah affectees, royalty from Jaba Dam and employment opportunities for locals in addition with dignified repatriation of displaced families, establishment of a university and medical college in Khyber, and construction of sports facilities.
It also demanded justice for missing persons, recruitment against vacant posts in educational institutions, reduction in the shortage of educational facilities for both men and women, solarization of mosques and seminaries, provision of basic amenities in underdeveloped areas, transparency in development projects, and improved law and order.
Additional demands included a fair share in the NFC Award, holding of local government elections, fulfillment of promises made during the FATA merger, declaration of tribal districts as tax-free zones, a grand operation against narcotics, job opportunities for youth, an end to electricity load shedding, and provision of clean drinking water.
Speakers noted that since the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs to District Khyber, public expectations are particularly high, and there is a growing demand for prioritizing the resolution of these long-pending problems.
The declaration urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to resolve the issues of Kuki Khel, Jhanda Khel, and the wider population of District Khyber, paving the way for development and prosperity in the region.
