Decision has been taken to set up Plastic Free Zones (PFZs) in all over Punjab and implementation of this decision has been started in major markets of Punjab.
As per media report, Crack down has been intensified against plastic bags in Punjab.. Plastic bags weighing 337000 kilogram were seized during four months.
Plastic bags with a thickness of less than 75 microns will be completely banned.
Identification of major net works has been made during intelligence based operations.
DB Environment Punjab Imran Hamid Sheikh has said zero tolerance policy is in place in this regard and warning time has expired. Immediate sealing action will be take n and FIR will be registered on violation.
The spokesperson has said fine is being slapped in Lahore more than in any other cities and stern action is being taken in other districts.
Multan and Rawalpindi figure atop among others cities in terms of seizure of plastic bags.
