Illegal timber smuggling foiled on Hazara Motorway after armed resistance

Authorities seized two vehicles loaded with illegal timber during separate operations on the Hazara Motorway.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, the action was carried out despite armed resistance.
Officials stated that the vehicles were intercepted at around 3am and 7am in coordinated operations involving forest and patrol teams.
The operation was conducted by the Patrol Squad in collaboration with Seren Forest Division, Upper Hazara Patrol Squad, Agror Tanwal Patrol Squad, and Galiyat Forest Division.
Officials said the operation faced serious challenges, including armed resistance and exchange of fire, but the teams successfully carried out the seizure through effective strategy and timely response.
The statement stated that a comprehensive crackdown was conducted in line with directives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary and the Secretary of the Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife Department to curb illegal logging.
Authorities said such operations were part of ongoing efforts to protect forest resources and promote the provincial government’s vision of a greener KP.
