SC directs govt to evolve coordination system to discourage shisa smoking

Islamabad (Online): The Supreme Court on Wednesday while taking notice of suo moto against shisa smoking has directed the federal and provincial governments to evolve a coordination system to discourage the shisa smoking.
A three-judge bench of apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprises of Justice Ejaz-ul-Hassan and Justice Arif Khalji conducted the hearing of the case.
Head of the three-judge bench Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has observed during the hearing that this impression should not be developed that court’s orders are not being implemented adding that departments should itself complete their tasks.
“The object to issue the suo moto notice to Secretary Commerce was not to disallow him to participate in any conference but it was issued for the prestige of the court”, CJ added.
The court has directed during the hearing that if a person has any objection individually about court’s order as he can file petition in the court again.
During the course of the hearing, Secretary Commerce has informed the court that he had informed the Attorney General verbally before going abroad to participate in the conference.
Syed Zafar Shah, party of the case has requested the court to issue the direction to Higher Education Commission to initiate measures in universities regarding eradication of Shisa somking.
He further said that millions of people are looking towards Supreme Court for the eradication of Shisa smoking.
On this, CJ has observed that you are right but this task should be done those people who have to do it adding that what court would do.
