The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Shaheed Benazirabad have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the fields of research, training and knowledge exchange related to sustainable development.
The MoU has been signed as part of the International Conference on ESG, Sustainability, Fintech, and Climate Resilience 2026, organized by the Department of Business Administration, SBBU that brought together academics, policymakers and industry professionals to deliberate on emerging challenges and opportunities in sustainable development.
Dr. Fareeha Armughan, Research Fellow and Head of the Center of Evidence Action Research at SDPI, and Engr. Prof. Dr Madad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor of the SBBU signed the MoU.
According to the agreement, both institutions will collaborate on joint research projects, consulting initiatives, conferences and academic events to promote evidence-based policymaking and innovation in Pakistan.
The partnership also envisages internship and volunteer opportunities for students, training programmes, guest lectures and faculty engagement initiatives to enhance academic and professional development.
Under the agreement, students of the university will be able to participate in SDPI programmes and sustainability-related events, while both institutions will jointly organize seminars, workshops and capacity-building activities.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of both organizations said the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to promoting inclusive and representative development, particularly by expanding engagement in Sindh and other underserved regions of the country.
They expressed hope that the partnership would create new opportunities for students and researchers, encourage innovation and contribute to sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.
The MoU will remain effective for a period of three years with provisions for extension through mutual agreement.
