Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the government, in collaboration with traders, investors and the business community, was taking effective measures to promote trade, investment and industrial activities across the country.
“The political and military leadership of the country is playing a responsible and proactive role for the promotion of peace at the national, regional, and global levels”, he expressed while inaugurating the 33rd branch of Imtiaz Group located in Sector E-11, Golra Sharif here Friday.
The ceremony was attended by former Chief Minister and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehtab Abbasi, former Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi, former Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Zamurd Khan, former Senator Tanveer Ahmed Khan, members of parliament, business leaders, representatives of civil society and a large number of citizens.
The Chairman Senate paid tribute to Chairman Imtiaz Group, Imtiaz Hussain, his sons, family and the management for their contributions toward the promotion of a modern and organised retail system in Pakistan.
He added that institutions like Imtiaz Group were not only strengthening the national economy but also provided real relief to the public through the availability of quality products at affordable prices.
He said that the establishment of this world-class superstore in Islamabad reflected the capability of Pakistani business enterprises to compete at the international level. He noted that Imtiaz Group, through its 33 branches in 14 cities across the country, was providing employment opportunities to thousands of people, which was highly encouraging for the national economy, local industry and commercial growth.
While addressing the ceremony and speaking to media representatives, the Chairman of the Senate said that the government remained in continuous contact with traders, industrialists, investors and representatives of chambers of commerce to address the challenges faced by the business community.
He further stated that the concerns of traders and investors were also being seriously discussed in various parliamentary committees and practical measures were being undertaken for their resolution.
Referring to the prevailing international situation, he remarked that the world was facing numerous challenges due to tensions among various countries; however, Pakistan’s political and military leadership was playing an effective role for peace and stability at the national, regional and international levels.
He emphasized that Pakistan had always advocated dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful coexistence and continued to play a constructive role in reducing global tensions.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also paid tribute to Pakistan’s political and military leadership for their role in helping reduce tensions between the United States and Iran and bringing the parties to the negotiating table.
He stated that Pakistan’s leadership played a commendable role in helping the world avert the threat of a third world war, which reflected the visionary leadership and statesmanship of the country’s political and military leadership.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue working with the private sector to provide maximum relief to the public, create employment opportunities and improve economic conditions in the country. He added that institutions prioritizing transparency, quality and public service played vital role in the nation’s development and prosperity.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chairman of the Senate visited the newly inaugurated branch, appreciated the arrangements, and expressed his best wishes for the continued success of Imtiaz Group.
He said that the collective objective of all stakeholders should be to generate maximum employment opportunities and provide greater relief to the people.
