A special session of the National Youth Parliament Pakistan was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Javed Muhammad, resulting in a significant leadership transition following the passage of a no-confidence resolution against the former Prime Minister and Speaker.
The session’s administrative and electoral proceedings were supervised by Chairman National Youth Parliament Pakistan Danish Ahmed Khan, Chief Organizer and Acting Election Commissioner Ehsan Elahi, along with members of the Election Commission, who ensured that the entire process was conducted in a transparent, organized, and democratic manner.
During the session, members of the National Youth Parliament Pakistan tabled a no-confidence resolution against former Prime Minister Badshah Wali and former Speaker Burhanuddin. Following a vote in the house, the resolution was passed with an overwhelming majority, removing both office-bearers from their respective positions.
After the successful passage of the resolution, the house initiated the process for the election of a new Prime Minister and Speaker. Nomination papers were received from candidates, and the electoral process was formally conducted in accordance with parliamentary procedures.
Upon completion of the voting process, Taj Khan was elected as the new Prime Minister of the National Youth Parliament Pakistan, while Muhammad Zakaria Khan was elected as the new Speaker.
A formal oath-taking ceremony was held following the announcement of the results. Newly elected Speaker Muhammad Zakaria Khan took oath before Chief Organizer Ehsan Elahi, while newly elected Prime Minister Taj Khan was administered the oath by Chairman National Youth Parliament Pakistan Danish Ahmed Khan.
Addressing the gathering, the newly elected office-bearers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening democratic values, enhancing youth representation, and further developing the National Youth Parliament Pakistan as a platform for youth leadership and parliamentary engagement.
Participants of the session described the democratic transfer of leadership as an important milestone for institutional strengthening, transparency, and the political training of young parliamentarians, while extending their best wishes to the newly elected leadership.
