President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has said that ICCI is the most credible representative platform of the business community of the federal capital and remains fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the interests of traders and entrepreneurs through effective advocacy and constructive engagement with policymakers.
He expressed these views while addressing a large delegation of the Traders Welfare Association (TWA), G-8 Markaz, led by its President Ajab Khan, at the Chamber House on Tuesday.
Highlighting the achievements and services of the Chamber, Sardar Tahir Mehmood urged traders to become active members of ICCI, stating that a larger membership base would further strengthen the collective voice of the business community and enhance the Chamber’s ability to effectively pursue the resolution of traders’ issues.
Referring to the upcoming Federal Budget 2026-27, he expressed hope that the government would announce significant relief measures for the business community, including rationalization of property transfer fees and other business-friendly incentives. He also called upon the concerned authorities to resolve the long-standing issue of automobile showrooms without further delay.
On the occasion, the ICCI President announced the formation of an ICCI Membership Committee under the chairmanship of TWA G-8 President Ajab Khan. The committee will work in accordance with the objectives, policies, and rules of the Chamber and will submit recommendations to the ICCI President from time to time regarding membership expansion and traders’ engagement.
Speaking on the occasion, TWA G-8 President Ajab Khan highlighted various issues confronting traders of the sector, particularly those relating to the Excise and Taxation Department, and sought ICCI’s support for their early resolution.
