KP boosts police budget to Rs191b to fight terrorism, modernize force

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan Sunday stated that provincial government was taking practical measures to maintain law and order, eradicate terrorism, and modernize policing system.
As part of these efforts, provincial government has increased police budget to Rs191 billion, with Rs12 billion specifically allocated to strengthen police force and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in security-challenged districts.
Furthermore, Rs4 billion has been set aside for infrastructure improvement and capacity building of police and CTD in merged districts.
Additionally, one billion rupees has been allocated for establishing CTD Regional Headquarters in Peshawar and expanding its network to other districts.
Minister Shafi Jan concluded by saying that budget also includes dedicated funds for constructing more police stations and checkpoints across province to ensure efficient and timely police services for public.
