A delegation of students from various universities visited Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines on Tuesday, where Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed highlighted the importance of modern policing, technology and community engagement in maintaining law and order.
During the visit, the CCPO gave the students a detailed briefing on the functioning of various police units, including investigation, crime control and public service delivery.
He also explained the police infrastructure, training system, recruitment procedures, promotion mechanism, Police Facilitation Centre, Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs), investigation wing, crime scene management, forensic support and traffic management.
Dr Ahmed said the effective use of technology had become essential to meet the challenges of modern policing. He highlighted the role of digital policing, the Safe City project, public-friendly initiatives and transparent accountability in improving police performance.
The meeting also featured discussions on the law and order situation, land grabbing, usury, aerial firing, arms display, drug trafficking, cybercrime awareness, observance of traffic laws and other social issues.
The CCPO said the youth could play a key role in promoting the rule of law, identifying criminal elements and contributing to the establishment of a peaceful society.
He added that Peshawar Police would continue to strengthen ties with educational institutions and organise similar programmes to promote legal awareness and community policing.
The visit concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session in which students sought information about policing, investigation procedures, public services, career opportunities and ongoing police reforms. The participants appreciated the professionalism of Peshawar Police and described the visit as informative and beneficial.
