Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Sunday condemned the terrorist attacks in Swat’s Kabal and Peshawar, saying the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had continued to suffer due to flawed policies.
Addressing a certificate distribution and oath-taking ceremony organised by Khudai Khidmatgar Organisation in Nowshera, he said the killing of 15 people and injuries to 18 others in the Kabal blast was a matter of grave concern.
He also condemned the attack on a police van in Peshawar and other incidents of terrorism across the province, saying militants had become so emboldened that they were now targeting police stations in broad daylight.
Mr Hussain alleged that lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had not remained part of state policies, adding that the province had suffered for decades due to “dollar-driven wars”.
Referring to the resurgence of militancy, he said ANP had repeatedly warned that terrorists were reorganising in different districts, but its concerns were ignored. He called for collective efforts to counter the growing security challenges.
He said ANP had stood against terrorism during 2008-13 and would continue its struggle for peace in the province.
