ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Saturday warned of rising water flows in major rivers and the risk of low to moderate-level flooding across several parts of the country on August 8-9, as its National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) reviewed river flows, reservoir levels and emerging monsoon risks and directed local administrations to pre-position resources and keep evacuation arrangements ready in vulnerable areas. According to the NEOC assessment, low-level flooding is currently being observed in the Indus River at Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa and Guddu. Flows in the Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum, Kabul and Sutlej rivers, as well as hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur and Nullah Lai, remain normal. The NDMA said water flows in major rivers are expected to increase on August 8 and 9. Low-level flows are likely at Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa, Guddu and Sukkur on the Indus, Marala on the Chenab and Balloki on the Ravi. DNA
