Director General (DG) Safe City Muhammad Haroon Joiya and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Law and Order/Training Muhammad Ateeq Tahir on Friday inspected security arrangements across key roads, public and recreational places and other sensitive locations in Islamabad as police maintained heightened deployment for Independence Day celebrations.
An Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police official told Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) that the two senior officers visited various duty points across the federal capital to personally review security deployment and operational preparedness.
During the inspections, they directed police officers and personnel deployed in the field to perform their duties with vigilance, responsibility and professionalism and maintain an effective security presence at their assigned locations.
The officers ordered enhanced monitoring at key roads, public gathering points, recreational places and other sensitive locations, particularly in view of increased public movement and Independence Day gatherings across the city.
They directed deployed personnel to continuously monitor the security situation and ensure immediate and effective response to any suspicious activity or untoward incident.
The senior officers also instructed police personnel to remain at their designated duty points, deal with citizens courteously and professionally and provide them with every possible assistance during the celebrations.
They made it clear that negligence or laxity in security duties would not be tolerated and directed supervisory officers to maintain close oversight of field deployments.
DG Safe City Muhammad Haroon Joiya and DIG Law and Order/Training Muhammad Ateeq Tahir said Islamabad Police remained fully mobilised to protect the lives and property of citizens and maintain a peaceful environment across the federal capital.
They said police officers and personnel were performing their duties under a coordinated security plan to enable citizens to celebrate Independence Day in a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
