The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday reviewed and finalised arrangements for holding mega events across the province to mark the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal with religious zeal and fervour.
The arrangements were reviewed at a high-level meeting chaired by KP Secretary for Hajj, Auqaf, Minority and Religious Affairs Ata-ur-Rehman. Senior officials from the Protocol Wing, Administration Department, Information Department, Traffic Police and Rescue 1122 attended the meeting.
Representatives of the participating departments briefed the meeting on their respective action plans and preparations to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the scheduled events.
The secretary directed the Information Department to ensure comprehensive media coverage of all religious events. He stressed the use of print, electronic and social media platforms to highlight the positive message of the celebrations and project a peaceful image of the province.
Information Department officials informed the meeting that arrangements for live coverage and publicity of the events had been completed.
Mr Ata-ur-Rehman also stressed close coordination among all relevant departments to finalise security arrangements, traffic management and emergency medical services well in advance.
The traffic police were directed to issue alternative route plans to minimise inconvenience to the public, while Rescue 1122 was placed on high alert to respond to any emergency.
The local administration was also directed to ensure cleanliness and beautification of cities ahead of the mega events.
