The non-governmental organization MRDO, with financial support from Muslim Charity UK, has provided three additional modern incubators to the Children’s Nursery Ward of District Central Hospital, Saidu Sharif, Swat. With the addition of these incubators, the total number of incubators available in the hospital’s nursery ward has increased to seven, five of which have been provided by Muslim Charity UK.
The provision of the incubators aims to improve medical facilities for newborn babies, particularly low-birth-weight and premature infants, receiving treatment in the nursery ward and to further strengthen the system of neonatal care. Modern incubators are considered an important medical facility for maintaining the body temperature of newborns and keeping them under proper medical supervision.
In this regard, MRDO Programme Manager Sikandar Khan and Project Coordinator Junaid Khan handed over the three incubators to District Central Hospital Saidu Sharif’s DMS, Dr. Farooq, and Dr. Sajjad.
On the occasion, DMS Dr. Farooq appreciated the cooperation of MRDO and Muslim Charity UK in improving medical facilities. He said that the provision of the incubators would further improve the treatment and care of newborn babies admitted to the nursery ward.
Dr. Farooq said that around 70 children requiring incubator support visit the hospital every day, putting considerable pressure on the existing facilities.
He added that the availability of additional incubators would help provide timely medical care to children in need and increase the capacity of the nursery ward.
Dr. Farooq expressed hope that Muslim Charity UK would continue its support for this important healthcare facility in Swat and provide additional incubators and other essential medical equipment in the future, enabling the hospital to further improve treatment and care facilities for newborn babies.
The initiative by MRDO and Muslim Charity UK has also been appreciated by civil society and social circles. They said that providing modern medical equipment to public hospitals not only helps ensure better treatment for newborn babies but also enables patients from remote areas to access essential healthcare facilities closer to home.
Social circles have urged the relevant authorities and supporting organizations to ensure the provision of more incubators, patient monitors and other essential medical equipment at the nursery ward of District Central Hospital Saidu Sharif in view of the growing healthcare needs of newborn babies, so that no infant has to face difficulties due to a shortage of essential medical equipment.
